6 Days Trekking in High Atlas: Valleys Walking and Mount Toubkal Circuit
6 days trek in high atlas and Toubkal Accelerated Trek : Situated at 4,167m at its summit, Jbel Toubkal is the highest peak in North Africa, after you having discovered the City of Marrakech and gotten to know the Moroccan culture, it’s good to leave the city and explore the rural way of life at just a one and half hour drive from Marrakech. Hiking in the Atlas Mountains, will make you experience stunning landscapes and the traditional life of the Amazigh Tribes.
Marrakech to Tahliouin
After breakfast in the Riad or hotel in Marrakech your guide will pick you up and drive you to Agersioual in the Atlas Mountains, where we meet our group muleteers and start walking through the valley of Mattat. Following a small trail we reach the pass of Tizi-n-Oudit (2219m) where we spend the lunch break, then walk down the trail to reach Azzaden valley. Sleep in a small guzesthouse in Tahliouin village (1650m). 4 to 5h walk.
Tahliouin to Tekkent valley
After breakfast you walk down to the river of Azzaden then hike up along a ridge. Enjoy the great view to the Azzaden valley. Lunch in Asswikn in the shade of the old walnut trees. After lunch you continue walking to the valley of Tekkent where you spend the night in a Gite. 6 hours walking.
Tekkent to Tamssoult
Walk up the Azib Tekkent, the summer village of Tekkent then continue to the mountain pass of Tizi-n-Tegdalt (2700m) where you have a marvelous view to the Azzaden Valley and Agelzim peak. Walk down to the village of Tizi Oussem for have lunch. After lunch walk up along the river to get to Tamssoult to spend the night in a camp or refuge (2250m). 7 hours walking.
Tamssoult to base camp of Toubkal
Walk along the river up to the famous waterfall of Igholidn, then continue hiking over Tizi-n-Ougelzim mountain pass (3600m). This is a perfect acclimatization day to get ready for the summit the next day. On top of the pass you will have a pic-nic while enjoying the marvelous view to Azzaden pass and the highest north African peak – Toubkal. After the rest, walk down to the base camp of Toubkal (3207m), where you sleep in a camp or in the refuge. 7h walking.

After an early start, hike up with your guide step by step toward the summit. Cross the little stream behind the refuge, then climb upthe steep scree slope, one of the toughest parts ascent. Once you passed this slope, the ascent gets gentler again and you will easily reach the ridge below the summit. Follow the ridge to reach the summit of Toubkal, the Highest North African Peak. If the air is clear, you will get a splendid view to the south, over the whole Atlas with many peaks over 4000m, and Jebel Siroua. After enough time to catch your breath back and take plenty of pictures, you start walking back down the camp where lunch is already waiting for you. In the afternoon you have time to relax or explore the surroundings. 5 to 6 hours walking
Base camp to Marrakech
Enjoy your breakfast and walk down following the stream. You pass through the shrine of Sidi Chamharouch and continue walking along the Mizane valley down to the area of Imlil for lunch. Discover the area and have a safe drive to Marrakech. 5 hours walking and 1 half hours of drive.
